Pavement Whispers: the team behind Kirra’s much-loved Siblings is set to open Hanks

When Siblings opened in Kirra in 2022, it was like a breath of fresh, salty air to the famed foreshore. Since then, the beachside suburb has evolved in to quite the foodie hub, with the likes of Kirra Beach House, Kirra Beach Hotel, Pipi’s by Brisbane’s Gambaro Group, Agave Rosa and Billy Chow, joining the fold. Pretty soon, the booming locale is set to welcome another hospitality venue from the family behind the much-loved Siblings. It will be called Hanks, and here’s what we know so far …

Hanks is a brand-new coastal European concept that is set to take over the beach-fronting space that was formerly home to long-standing pizza and pasta institution Bread and Butter. Hospitality veterans Peter and Tracey Cianci alongside Jarrod Kyle and TJ Cianci are behind the new project, which is being brought to life by Space Cubed Design Studio and Zero9 Constructions. The family is being tight-lipped on what we can expect from Hanks, but we do know it will be smaller in size than Siblings, with roughly 100 seats and feature a more intimate, moodier vibe. Think warm and cosy for wining and dining.

“We as a family are so thankful for how welcoming the Kirra community has been over the past three years and are proud to be a part of the foodie culture growing in the area. We are extremely excited to launch our new venture Hanks towards the end of this year with a unique food and cocktail menu in the works,” TJ said.

In terms of the menu, the details are still being finalised but we’re told executive chef Blake Fewtrell alongside Paolo Gabrielloni (bar executive) will be creating a coastal European leaning menu that will feature share plates, a similar wine list to Siblings alongside a specialised cocktail selection.

Hanks is targeting a September opening. As always, we’ll bring you all of the delicious details as they come to light, but until then, follow Hanks on Instagram.
