The Sporting Globe Bar and Grill and 4 Pines Brewing Company have unveiled a joint $6.5-million venue
If you grew up on the Gold Coast, chances are you have at least one hazy story that involves traipsing up (and down) the stairs at the Hard Rock Cafe. The slightly sticky floor, the bands, the burgers – it was an icon, no doubt about it. When the much-loved sip spot called last drinks in 2022, it left a guitar-shaped hole in our hearts. After a brief hiatus, we’ve got our first glimpse at its successor – a concept that sees two industry titans come together to create one very impressive new venue. It’s called The Sporting Globe x 4 Pines and it officially opens this weekend – have a look around …
Hold on to your hats, hop heads – The Sporting Globe x 4 Pines Surfers Paradise is here! At long last, the froth-pouring flagship is rolling out the welcome mat for the opening of The Sporting Globe’s largest venue in Australia. Touted as the place ‘Where Beer Meets Sport’, the state-of-the-art space features 60 high-definition screens (including multiple big screens) broadcasting fixtures from all around the world. Can’t find your game of choice? No worries – the premium booth seating with proprietary BoothTV® will give revellers the capacity for individual channel selection, web browsing and even games!
At the centre of the gargantuan 1000-person venue is a central bar wrapped in stadium-style screens, housing 80 taps – 14 of which are dedicated to pouring the freshest 4 Pines beers that are soaked, boiled and fermented onsite in the fully operational, ground-floor brewery. Around the perimeter, you will find a scattering of high tables, bar-style seating and cushy booths. Outside, the open-air balcony overlooks one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic streets below. There’s also a private dedicated function room for 150 guests where groups can enjoy the game behind closed doors.
Brothers Mark and Brad Vigus are at the helm of the new brewpub, which marks their third franchise of the much-loved brand.
“We saw a gap in the Gold Coast market for an inclusive, family-friendly sporting venue that would appeal to a broad demographic of customers and become the go-to meeting place to watch, listen, eat, drink and be entertained,” says Mark.
“Australia’s love of sport runs deep, and we know the folks of Surfers Paradise will find a loud and like-minded heartbeat right here at The Sporting Globe,” Brad adds.
Whether sports are your jam or not, The Sporting Globe x 4 Pines food menu will surely please the crowds. The signature wings (coated in a dry rub or doused in sauce) are a good place to start before turning your attention to the ‘warm ups’ section – think mac ‘n’ cheese bites, waffle fries and pulled-pork loaded fries. There’s six mouth-watering burgers on offer (including a couple of low-gluten options and one with a plant-based patty), alongside grilled steaks, nine parmies, loaded chicken wraps, and – for some balance – a series of nourishing bowls.
As the night drifts on, the venue will transform from a relaxed, family-friendly space into a late-night hot spot with live music and entertainment, trading until 3:00 am.
