Savour the deliciousness of rejection with Good & Fugly’s seasonal fruit and veg boxes

They say ‘rejection is redirection’, and that rings especially true for Good & Fugly, which delivers boxes of quirky-looking but still just as tasty seasonal fruit and veg boxes. The food-waste startup is now delivering on the Gold Coast, read on for the ugly (read: delicious) truth …

Good & Fugly launched its offering in Sydney in 2020 to help fight Australia’s food-waste epidemic, which sees a quarter of all Australian produce never leaving farms because they are deemed ‘ugly’. Since catapulting into the fresh produce industry three years ago, Good & Fugly have delivered over 600,000 kilograms of quirky fruit and veggies to produce lovers across Australia, helping save perfectly imperfect produce deemed cosmetically unsuitable for supermarkets from going to waste. Now, it’s time for the Gold Coast to embrace the ugly. Good & Fugly founder Richard Tourino is excited to be launching on the coast. “The price of fruit and veg is skyrocketing, and still, major supermarkets are rejecting produce based on looks alone. We were overwhelmed by our recent launch in Brisbane and know that there is a huge appetite on the Gold Coast for healthy, sustainable, and affordable produce solutions,” Richard says.

It works like this – you choose the size box you want and how often you want it, with weekly and fortnightly options available. From there, farmers will provide Good & Fugly with fresh, not-so-pretty produce, which will then get delivered straight to your door. With boxes starting from $35 and roughly 20-percent less expensive than supermarket produce, it’s an easy way to combat Cozzie Livs while doing good for the planet.
