Coolangatta cafe Espresso Moto transforms into an after-dark gnoccheria

During the day, the team at Coolangatta’s Espresso Moto (the younger sibling venue of the longstanding Palm Beach outpost) are busy dishing up its renowned breakfasts, seasonal lunches and Allpress brews to the masses. Now, locals can experience the goodness by night, with its beachside Dutton Street digs transforming into a gnoccheria after dark.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, Espresso Moto subs out the acai bowls and breakky rolls for fresh, handmade Italian-style gnocchi. The all-new Gnocchi Nights kick off at 5:30 pm, dishing up a handful of gnocchi variations, as well as sides, salads, desserts and cheese boards. There’s gluten-free gnocchi available, as well as vegan options – and (for now) you can BYO booze with no corkage!

The delicate, pillow-soft gnocchi is pan-fried to order in sauces like a spicy arrabbiata with sopressa, four cheese with preserved lemon and crispy kale, burnt butter and sage, and a creamy carbonara. There’s also a piping-hot baked gnocchi topped with Napoli sauce and oozing mozzarella, as well as sides like garlic bread and pan-fried broccolini with almonds. Break things up with the fennel, radicchio and charred-orange salad – and absolutely finish with the gluten-free brownie served with caramel popcorn and ice-cream.

Gnocchi Nights at Espresso Moto Coolangatta are held Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5:30 pm.
