Pavement Whispers – Southport is set to score a new European-style bakery called FARINA & Co.

In news that is set to have lovers of baked goods salivating with excitement, The Amore Collection, which is responsible for Broadbeach institutions Sofia’s Restaurant & Bar and Luna’s Pizza & Wine, is set to open a brand-new European-style bakery called FARINA & Co. in Southport later next month. Here’s everything we know so far …

Having nailed coastal European cuisine with Sofia’s Restaurant & Bar, won over the pizza-loving populace with Luna’s Pizza & Wine, now, Henry Hunt is set to open his third venue in three and a half years. FARINA & Co is a beautiful new bakery concept under his hospitality brand, The Amore Collection.

Named after the Italian word for flour, the striking new venue on Pinter Drive was designed by Bridgette Ford from ArchInteriors and is currently being brought to life by Shopfit Co. The specific details of the design are being kept under wraps for the moment, but we’re told the new venue will feature a show-stopping open kitchen alongside marble bench tops, hinting at the calibre of what’s to come.

In terms of the menu, The Amore Collection’s executive chef Dan Paulman has created a people-pleasing selection that will focus on breakfast and lunch, with beautiful pastries, fresh bread, classic Italian-style paninis, salads, focaccias and fresh pasta set to feature heavily.

With backgrounds in restaurants and high-end dining, the daytime concept will be an exciting new challenge, says Henry. “Part of it was wanting to do something new and have a new challenge for myself and the team, but  I think it really fits in with where we want to grow the business,” Henry adds. FARINA & Co. will not only make the pasta for Sofia’s and the pizza dough for Luna’s, but there are plans to introduce a retail line where you can pick up some fresh pasta and sauce to take away. “It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a while now, but we just didn’t have the space.” Henry tells us. Sofia’s pasta at home! To say we’re excited is an understatement.

FARINA & Co. is set to open late June. We’ll have all of the delicious details for you oh-so-soon.
