Baby it’s cold out – warm up with a Biscoff hot chocolate from Elk Espresso’s new winter menu

It’s been a pretty rough couple of days here on the Gold Coast, so we could probably all do with a hug right about now. Unfortunately in this new-world order, hugging is banned so we’ll just have to settle for a Biscoff hot chocolate from Elk Espresso. Look, we’re no scientists but we’re pretty sure it delivers the same kind of endorphin rush but in a delightfully COVID-safe way. The sippable new creation is part of the Broadbeach-based institution’s mouth-watering new winter menu, which is made for crisp mornings and warm days. Read on for all of the delicious details …

The beauty of Elk Espresso’s new menu is that it caters to both ends of the culinary spectrum – from wholesome to indulgent. Some days, you get up early, smash a work-out and tuck into a nourishing Winter Breaky Bowl loaded with charred zucchini, XO brussels sprouts, kale, heirloom tomato, brown rice, carrot hummus, garden peas, fetta and a poached egg. Other days, you hit snooze six times before rolling out of bed and into a plate of Bourbon Street Waffles, which is every bit as decadent as it sounds with a side of Kick Arse (caramel and coffee) thick shake. If you’re not shy of carbs for breakfast (hello, friend), the Gnocchi Shakshuka adds potato in an unexpectedly new form to your morning meal and we’re here for it. The more the merrier, if you ask us!

Come midday, the menu flips to include a selection of seriously stacked burgers, salads and miscellaneous meals, however, a ‘Breakfast for lunch’ selection remains for those with a penchant for eggs at any time of the day or night. If you’re in the mood for something a little stronger (and bubblier) than coffee, Elk Espresso does a delightful boozy brunch for $39 per person, which includes your choice of meal and bottomless mimosas for one hour – now that’s sure to squash any lingering winter blues!
