Thursday June 1 marked BSKT Cafe’s tenth birthday, which in an industry as fickle as hospitality, is a pretty massive accomplishment. The much-loved beachside eatery has gone from strength to strength in the past decade. Its mouth-watering menu, mostly unchanged due to the popularity of the dishes, spotlights healthy fare and features plenty of vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options. On the savoury side, the Healthy Benny is a surefire standout, with two poached eggs on rye sourdough and spinach, topped with your choice of Kalenaise or turmeric-bearnaise sauce, served with grilled ham, smoked salmon, bacon or vego. The Vegan Huevos Rancheros, a spiced-tofu scramble with beans, avo salsa, fresh greens, jalapenos on two corn tortillas, is also a winner in our books. For the sweet tooths, the vegan choc-chip pancakes with banana and nut dukkah, nut butter and chocolate drizzle is well worth the taste test, or an acai bowl from the next-door Oakberry Acai is sure to satisfy. Those on the run can order coffee on the takeaway tablets located outside the venue from 6:00 am each day, while this year also saw BSKT Cafe join Uber Eats, for those a little bit too comfy to escape from under the doona in the morning. Like always, four-legged friends are well taken care of at BSKT, with dog cookies, puppycinos and plenty of pats on the menu.

As part of its tenth birthday celebrations, BSKT Cafe has partnered with Enriching Lives Foundation and is putting on a raffle for the month of June. Enriching Lives Foundation is a charity that helps families that are experiencing financial hardship. The goal is to help raise much-needed funds for the charity’s Sponsor a Student program, which helps students from struggling families, encouraging them to remain at school and complete their education.
