Barbecues, rock anthems and a live reptile show – celebrate Australian classics all long weekend at Southport Sharks

With holidays fizzling out and students gearing up to go back to school, we all look to that final long weekend in January before we really start to settle into the year ahead. Luckily Southport Sharks has an unforgettable long weekend planned for all ages to enjoy, serving up Aussie classics, playing Aussie rock and inviting some real Aussie mates.

A barbie with your best mates is a long-standing tradition on the January 26 long weekend and Frenzy’s is serving up a feast fit for a shark, featuring a mouth-watering prawn and barbecue buffet. After diving into a sea of prawns you can tuck into bangas, steaks and roast meats – all from $44.90 for adult members. Pavlova and lamingtons will be served up for the sweet tooths, and despite the old rivalry between our neighbours that these iconic desserts originally hail from New Zealand, we will claim they’re ours on our national day.

Slither into the long weekend with a live reptile show on Friday afternoon, where young and old can say g’day to snakes and crocs. If scaly mates aren’t your thing, the Sharks club will be overflowing with fun family activities, including face painting and balloons to delight all ages.

It wouldn’t be a true Aussie event without someone belting out a tune, and the cracker schedule of live entertainment will be cranking out the best of Aussie rock with tribute bands hitting the main stage Friday and Saturday from 8:30 pm. With a cold beer or cocktail in hand, you can enjoy your favourite anthems all night.

Come back for even more on Sunday where kids eat half price at the buffet. Book your table now to ensure you don’t miss out on this fair dinkum summer celebration.
