The Star Gold Coast gets the green light for a new 63-storey tower
Just when you thought The Star Gold Coast had it all, along comes the announcement of a new $400-million mixed-use tower that is set to commence construction on the Broadbeach Island site in coming weeks. The now-approved ‘Tower 2’ will be built on the most southeastern part of the island and will feature 210 five-star hotel rooms alongside 457 residential apartments that will form part of The Star Residences.
In what is set to be a major boon for the local construction industry, The Star Gold Coast has received the green light for its new 63-storey tower as works continue on the Dorsett hotel and apartments tower. The estimated value of the State Government-approved masterplan is around $2 billion-plus for the Broadbeach Island property. The masterplan is being overseen by Destination Gold Coast Consortium – a joint venture between The Star, Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium. Along with the $400-million, 53-storey Dorsett hotel and apartments tower – and the soon-to-commence Tower 2 – the masterplan provides potential for a further three towers on Broadbeach Island. The masterplan also allows for significant additional resort facilities, dining precincts, bars, cafes and entertainment areas.
The luxurious locale will become a haven for relaxation, with resort facilities to include a day spa and wellness centre. The brand-new Tower 2 will feature 210 hotel rooms across the lower levels and 457 expansive residential apartments will form the upper levels. The proposed retail and resort facilities have been designed to include fresh food and drink offerings plus luxurious specialty lifestyle services. Of course, the Gold Coast’s year-round sunshine will be incorporated into a sub-tropical recreation deck, which will be available for use by residents and visitors alike. The deck is planned to link up with The Star Gold Coast and looks set to be the hottest summer destination – think a luxe lagoon pool, sundecks, private cabanas and alfresco dining areas for kicking back in style. Construction will be undertaken by Multiplex, which will commence site establishment works this week, followed by initial demolition works starting in the next few weeks.
