Adored around the world for its bold designs and striking silhouettes, Valley Eyewear is not your typical optical range. Whether you were blessed with perfect 20/20 but need some new shades or you require a little added assistance, the brand-new flagship store in James Street Burleigh Heads is your new one-stop-optical-shop.

In true Valley style, an inverted tree suspended from the ceiling commands the attention of passers-by from the window of the brand-new Valley Eyewear store. Step inside the matte-black facade and you are greeted with a space that somewhat resembles a gallery, except here, the art isn’t contained within frames, the art is the frames.

From humble beginnings in Michael and Tenielle Crawley’s kitchen in their studio 12 years ago, to now be sold in 23 countries and regularly spotted shading the faces of celebrities and megastars, including Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, tattoo artist and TV personality Kat Von D and comedian Celeste Barber, to name just a few, the Gold Coast-born brand is one of our favourite local success stories.

Inspired by a love of Japanese architecture, in particular, the work of Tadao Ando, Valley Eyewear features a bold palette of concrete and matte-black. The space was brought to life by Jayson Pate Design with the rotating tree, a throwback to the brand’s last campaign, curated by Donna Stain, a local floral designer from Murwillumbah.

While shopping for new specs is rarely an enjoyable one, here, everything from the playlist, to the scent that lingers in the air (the same aroma that you’ll find at the Ritz Carlton in West Hollywood) is intended to deliver a completely enjoyable Valley experience. In need of an eye test? Pop in to see Eden, the onsite optometrist who has a testing room filled with state-of-the-art equipment.

With your new prescription sorted, it’s time for the fun part – frames. Shelves upon shelves of eye-catching frames in eclectic colourways vie for your attention. The latest to join the collection is Colosseum, Radius and Alta II. Ordinarily, that’s where the decisions end, but at Valley Eyewear, it’s only just begun. You can choose from 20 different lens tints to completely customise your new shades or specs to suit your aesthetic.

If you’re of the persuasion that if you have to wear glasses, you may as well make them big, bold and beautiful, take a peek at Valley Eyewear in Burleigh Heads. Make an appointment in store here or head to our Stumble Guide for opening times.
