It’s all gravy, baby – where to find a belly-warming Sunday roast on the Gold Coast

With chillier temperatures forecast for the next couple of months, we’re in need of some belly-warming fare. There’s no feast more winter appropriate than a Sunday roast, so we thought we’d rug up and roll out across the Gold Coast in search of some of the best. Without further ado, here are some of our favourite places to stick a fork into some gravy-smothered roast meat, veggies and Yorkshire puds …

Finn McCool’s, Surfers Paradise: A traditional Sunday roast tastes better in a pub, and Finn McCool’s proves our point with its salivation-inducing offering. The venue’s heart-warming roast comes with all of the trimmings including Yorkshire pudding, roast vegetables, green peas and proper gravy. If you’re keen for some after-dinner dancing, a line-up of live Irish bands are featured regularly so you can dance away to the tune of fiddles until the wee hours.

D’arcy Arms, Surfers Paradise: More traditional Irish pub fare awaits at D’arcy Arms in Surfers Paradise, which also doles out a delicious roast come Sunday. You’ll be licking your lips in anticipation for the pub’s famous Sunday roast, which is back on the menu now that winter has arrived. Expect a traditional pork roast with all of the usual trimmings available for lunch and dinner every Sunday.

Moo Moo, Broadbeach: Moo Moo’s menu is mouth-watering to say the least, but the absolute standout is the signature spice-rubbed one-kg wagyu rump cap roast. The Westholme MB 6-7+ wagyu rump cap is rubbed with a secret spiced rub, sealed until smokey on the chargrill and oven roasted to your liking. You’ll get dinner and a show as the roast is carved at the table, and dished out alongside wagyu-fat-fried potatoes, leaf salad with buffalo ricotta, pear, pecan and vincotto and a trio of chef’s sauce selections. Get in our bellies.

Bazaar, Surfers Paradise: Like any good buffet, the offerings at Bazaar at QT Gold Coast are varied and numerous, but the produce is fresh and the flavours are bold and contemporary. On Sunday evenings, you can tuck in to roast meats and load your plate up with veggies and sauces. Oh, just make sure to leave plenty of room for dessert – this is a buffet, after all.

Mano’s, Main Beach: Tedder Avenue treasure Mano’s serves up a Sunday roast each week from 12:00 pm, so make sure to have an early breakfast. A rotation of beef, pork and lamb roast is dished up alongside roast potatoes, veggies, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Plus, you can enjoy your Sunday roast to the soundtrack of DJ beats from 2:00 pm.

Paradise Point Bowls Club, Paradise Point: If you’re searching for a taste bud-tantalising Sunday roast, look no further than the Paradise Point Bowls Club. Choose from pork or beef roast, which is available for lunch and dinner and comes with all of the tasty trimmings. Someone pass the mint sauce!

Currumbin RSL, Currumbin: Indulge in a Sunday roast with creekside views at Currumbin RSL. The venue’s scrumptious roast of the day comes with baked herb potatoes, pumpkin, glazed carrot, broccolini, peas and rich gravy. Sounds pretty spectacular to us.

The Bowlo Bistro, Broadbeach Waters: If your ears prick up at the sound of barefoot bowls followed by a cold beer and a pub feed, go ahead and pull up a table at The Bowlo Bistro in Broadbeach Waters. Its winter special is a crispy roast pork belly with cauliflower puree, baked Brussels, carrots and caramelised apple sauce. It’s a must-try!

Alleygators, Currumbin Waters: A $20 Sunday roast is a great deal in our books, and that’s exactly what you can get at the Alleygators Bistro in Currumbin Waters. The roast of the day comes with seasonal vegetables and homemade gravy, and goes down well with an ice-cold beer.
