Prepare your picnic kit for spring

Spring has sprung and that can only mean one thing: it’s officially picnic season. Cram your tote with these handy picnic aids from some of our favourite boutiques.

Shed the cardigans, slice the cheese and toss the salad – picnic season is upon us. No matter where your soiree is taking place, Brisbane offers a bounty of functional products to save you from the woes of snappable plastic cutlery and faulty deck chairs.

Before you beeline to your destination, whip up a smorgasbord of picnic treats – perhaps a colourful quinoa salad, sriracha street corn or fennel and zucchini salad. Pop them into a paper noodle or deli box from online store Little Ink, while also bottling some homemade lavender iced tea or summer bubble tea in the line’s mason jars or mini milk bottles. If you’re picnicking in a barbecue-less patch of greenery, BYO with a Black + Blum Hot Pot BBQ from Greenhouse. A barbecue and herb garden combined, this little guy should come standard with every Brisbane lease. Of course no picnic is complete without the required sugary morsels, so fire up the oven and pop on the oven mitts for divine scones with lemon curd or a bright bouquet of toffee apples.

Pack eco-friendly paper plates and bowls, and painted wooden cutlery from The Spring Shop in a woven Moroccan tote from Hamimi and head on down to one of Brisbane’s scenic picnic spots, like Bulimba’s Love Street Park, South Brisbane’s Kurilpa Park, Roma Street Parkland or New Farm Park. A floral quilted throw blanket from Utility Canvas will keep those bottoms clean, while a suckUK recyclable cardboard radio from Absolutely Fabulous will provide the soundtrack for the perfect spring soiree.
