Megan Morton’s The School returns to Brisbane

Helping others to discover the magic that happens when you work with your hands and your heart is The School, a hub for creating and learning. Hosting regular masterclasses and workshops for adults and kids to learn and play at its Sydney studio, The School is making its way to Brisbane, bringing together some talented artists to help ignite our inner creative spirit.

Popping up at Toby Scott Studio in Clayfield from May 21–25, the Brisbane leg of The School’s roadshow allows local folk to try their hand at the gentle art of calligraphy, practise macrame, learn the art of gift-wrapping and discover how to apply gold foil to artworks. Brisbane vignette expert Kara Rosenlund will host the first masterclass on Wednesday, followed by a full day of classes on Thursday including a wire class and macrame class by Tamara Maynes, and a gift-wrapping workshop by textile expert Morrison Polkinghorne.

On Friday, Lucy and Lily from Peaches & Keen will have you practising the delicate task of applying gold foil to your newly created masterpiece, and Brisbane-based photographer Hailey Bartholomew will divulge the science to iPhone and iPad filmmaking in her evening class. Come Saturday, The School will host a beginner calligraphy and calligraphy styling class, with a day-long class available for those who want to join both sessions. Also running on Saturday is a photography 101 class hosted by Brooke Holm.

The tour wraps up with a styling class from The School’s founder and stylist Megan Morton, letting participants dive headfirst into the theoretical and practical components of interiors styling. Pick a single class to learn a new skill or submerge yourself entirely in design, art and craft throughout the five-day program.
