Initial Denim

Pistols At Dawn launches Initial Denim bespoke jeans

The first of its kind in Australia, the Initial Denim concept is set to push the boundaries of what handmade means locally.

Created by the dapper lads behind The Cloakroom, Initial Denim crafts customisable, made-to-measure denim jeans for discerning gents. Owners Andrew Byrne and Louise Ialenti have selected four denim mills across Italy, Japan, Turkey and the US from which to source their fabrics – with each chosen cloth available in limited supply. The bespoke process allows the wearer to dabble in the realm of fashion design, choosing not only the fabric, style and cut of the jeans, but smaller elements like rivets, belt loops, stitching, trims, pockets and selvedge.

Entirely hand constructed, the jeans begin with three base cuts before being tailored to your measurements at 14 points down the leg. Then a basted version of your jeans is made to ensure the perfect fit before the final product is completed. The Cloakroom has expanded its team of suiting tailors in Hong Kong from five to eight to cope with the increased quick-turnaround workload – which will see approximately two weeks between ordering and receiving your new threads. The Initial Denim space is situated within the James Street-based Pistols At Dawn boutique.
