Pay homage to the chile pepper

“We love chile and we will die with chile in our hands.” It may be an audacious claim, but the pepper devotees featured in the intriguing documentary The Chile Film are unwavering. The film, which has been selected to feature in the upcoming NYC Food Film Festival 2013, explores how the chile pepper first made its way to New Mexico and how it has impacted the state’s culture ever since. In fact, in 1983 Senator Pete Domenici rose before the US Senate to declare that the New Mexican style of spelling chilli as ‘chile’ was correct – and it was the rest of America that was wrong. Take a journey with director Kelly Brinn to meet the passionate chile farmers of New Mexico and discover newfound respect for the humble pepper.
