See the world’s largest dino at Queensland Museum’s Dinosaurs of Patagonia exhibition

We can all reminisce that moment when we watched Jurassic Park for the first time and the way our jaws hit the floor when they panned up to the first live dinosaur. Well, dedicated dinophiles and wannabe palaeontologists, you’ll be able to relive that very moment at Queensland Museum’s newest blockbuster exhibition, Dinosaurs of Patagonia. It’s at this mammoth showcase where you can come face-to-face with the world’s biggest dinosaur …

Sir David Attenborough once mused that “The Titanosaur (Patagotitan) is one of the most extraordinary finds in the history of palaeontology.”. If that doesn’t get you excited for Queensland Museum’s next exhibition, we don’t know what will. Opening on Friday March 17, 2023, Dinosaurs of Patagonia will be a huge showcase of 13 dinosaur species and fossils from South America. The exhibition will kick off the museum’s year of the dinosaur, which will welcome an exciting line-up of new exhibitions and colossal collections to Brisbane.

The crème de la crème of the exhibition is no doubt the famous Titanosaur Patagotitan, which is the world’s largest known land animal, reaching 37-m long and weighing in at a whopping 70 tonnes. This sight for sore eyes will be joined by the razor-sharp teeth of the giant – and apparently ferocious – carnivore Tyrannotitan. One of the world’s earliest dinosaurs, the Herrerasaurus, and Manidens Condorensis, one of the smallest herbivore dinosaurs known to date (reaching a maximum height of 75-cm, will also make their mark at the exhibition. Visitors to Dinosaurs of Patagonia will be able to explore the exhibition through the eyes of palaeontologists, check out 3D videos of dinosaurs and digs, and get close to some of the world’s most remarkable fossils, including a real 2.4-m Patagotitan femur.
