Five reasons to dive into Love Lust Lost, Brisbane’s newest choose-your-own-journey theatrical experience

Ahoy there, sailor! Have you heard the sirens call yet? If not, let us introduce you to Love Lust Lost, Brisbane’s newest immersive experience. Found deep in a disused Valley warehouse, this subterranean dreamworld lets you choose your own journey. Though every experience is unique, here are some of the paths you can take if you’re keen to uncover the mysteries of the deep …

Submerge yourself in an underwater world – complete with a sinking ship
There’s more than 2-km of plumbing conduit throughout the Love Lust Lost set, which is submerging the show’s leaking ship, the E.V. Nautilus. This is to make you, the audience, feel like you’ve sailed into an underwater oasis. Scared of getting wet? Not to worry, oceanic travellers – you’ll be given waterproof jackets on arrival and the buckets dotted through the spaces are often used by audience members to ensure the boat stays afloat under the sea.

Get your nautical nerd on
Eager seamen can visit the captain’s bridge, where all of the behind-the-seas action happens. Dubbed ‘The Cypher’, the captain’s star charts reveal the path of the E.V. Nautilus and if you’re familiar with our solar system, you can trace its journey. Hidden within the bridge is the captain’s big secret – will you figure it out?

Take the red or blue pill
Neo isn’t the only individual who has to make the difficult decision on what pill to take, as the captain is set to offer you some medicine onboard the ship (and it’s not sea-sickness tablets). The captain’s research into hallucinogens and methods to make underwater life possible for humans is a story that will be uncovered. So make your choice, but beware of the consequences.

Choose between love and lust
Once you enter Love Lust Lost, you’ll be asked to choose left or right – lust or love? It’s after this delirious debacle that you will kick off your underwater adventure that will see you meet many characters and creatures of the deep. Your choice is key to the unravelling of the rest of your experience and the lens through which you will experience this story about love, lust and loss. But again, don’t fret, as your experience will be filled with wondrous quests and tales either way.

Imbibe tipples of the subterranean kind
A little deckhand told us that there’s a secret bar submerged somewhere in the exciting theatre experience, so keep an eye out on your escapade if you’re feeling thirsty. The underwater bar is not the only place to take a shot – you may enjoy rum shots, kelp shots, foam shots, bullet shots, slide shots, bounce shots, ink shots – and long shots elsewhere in your experience!

Remember, every Love Lust Lost experience is different. This is just a taste of what’s on offer and may (or may not!) happen to you. Want to dip your toes in Love Lust Lost’s water?
