School’s out for colourful Coorparoo Carnival

On Sunday October 20, Coorparoo State School will host Coorparoo Carnival, bringing all the liveliness of a classic carnival to the southern suburb. Featuring rides for all age groups, auctions, raffles, student artworks and a gourmet food and wine area – including fare from Mons Ban Sabai, Blue Gulabi Indian Curry, La Linea Caffe and Baskin Robbins, alongside usual festival favourites – the day will conclude with a fireworks display at 6:30 pm. There’ll also be stalls selling cakes, slices, jams, crafts, vintage clothes, and secondhand toys and books. Crowds will be kept entertained by baby animals, bowling, showbags, lob-a-choc and face painting throughout the day. more

Seaside celebrations commence in Redcliffe

Combining food, music and seaside frivolity, the Celebrate Redcliffe Festival launches September 14–15. Redcliffe’s annual two-day festival will begin with its Sunset Fiesta, on Saturday September 14 in Charlish Park at 4:00 pm. Throughout the festival, Redcliffe Parade will be filled with live music, roving entertainment and fireworks, to which diners at nearby restaurants will receive front row seats. Having recently returned from Europe, chef Matt Golinski will be in the kitchen to celebrate the region’s festivities, while footballer Billy Moore will be sharing his award-winning pizza recipes in a cooking demonstration. more
