The Slow Sunday Weekend List

Weekends can flash by so quickly that we can sometimes wonder if the day happened at all. This Sunday, we’re planning a slow-moving day filled with chats with farmers, kneading dough, turning pages and making new friends.

The new Albion Mill Markets returns for the last Sunday of the month this weekend, giving you ample opportunity to collect a handful of newly harvested apples and berries to turn into succulent fruit-filled treats at home. After your morning market forage, a baking session is in order to whip up nibbles to enjoy throughout your afternoon adventures. Perhaps it will be some neatly bundled mini apple galettes with salted caramel – the sticky sauce guaranteed to playfully run down your fingers, making each bite of these buttery rustic parcels all the more sweeter. Alternatively, these black raspberry oat scones may tickle your fancy. Cut into triangles and pre-buttered, they make for easy picnic fare, which can be topped with a smear of jam for that extra decadence.

Once you have successfully made a flour-coated mess of the kitchen, gather up your baked goods and toddle down to the Pop Up Suitcase Rummage at Brisbane Powerhouse for a casual browse. Then recline on a shady patch of grass for a snooze in the park, munching on your scones and galettes in between sleepy glances at the pages of new book, The Wes Anderson Collection.

If you’re in the mood for a spot of Sunday afternoon inspiration and conversation, hang about for the TEDxSouthBankWomen launch to gather ideas for this year’s theme of ‘Positive Disruption’ and perhaps make a bunch of new likeminded friends.
