TreeHorn Design launches raw pendant lights

The creation of Tasmanian-born, Melbourne-based Joe Chester, TreeHorn Design produces handcrafted wooden homewares and accessories. Working from a studio in Richmond, Joe places focus on using only reclaimed, recycled or sustainably grown timbers, and often makes extra items from the trimmings from the workshop floor.

The pursuit of eco-friendliness extends to the products’ packaging, and Joe makes monthly donations to the Wilderness Society and the Australian Conservation Foundation to give back a little. TreeHorn began crafting small pieces like bangles and necklaces, kitchen boards and bowls, and has since extended its repertoire to furniture, including a side table made from sustainably grown Tasmanian Oak with coloured pegs and hinges, and a leaning three-prong lamp capturing the spirit of a buoy at sea.

TreeHorn’s latest design is the Raw pendant light made from a solid piece of reclaimed Douglas Fir. Each light is made to order from architectural industry off-cuts, with nine colour choices for the pendant and eight for the cord. The heavily textured, wonderfully tactile pendant highlights the natural topography of the wood, yet is surprisingly lightweight.
