Howard Smith Wharves debuts the first of its bespoke event spaces The Houses

With all of the hubbub surrounding the opening of Howard Smith Wharves’ astounding array of eateries, it’s very possible that you’ve missed the erection of some curious structures in the shadow of the cliff wall. The booming precinct has unveiled the first two of a total four bespoke event spaces, each artfully designed to cater for various functions and occasions.

With sprawling lawns, two large-scale function spaces and incredible views of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge, the Howard Smith Wharves precinct has already proven to be a winner when it comes to events, and now it’s set to be an ideal locale for more boutique occasions. The Houses is a collection of four bespoke spaces built with the explicit purpose of housing all sorts of small-scale events, from weddings and reception dinners to lavish corporate gatherings. The first two of the four structures have been revealed, called Greenhouse and Bougainvillea, which precede the arrival of the final duo Citrus and Wisteria in late March.

Brisbane and Byron Bay-based studio Fellow Interiors has been recruited to design The Houses, tasked with evoking the feeling of striking and unique homes instead of your usual function spaces. Each venue is lovingly crafted with attention paid to the little details, emphasising each houses’ location in the precinct. Bougainvillea has been designed to evoke a blend of the Mediterranean and Queensland’s breezy lifestyle, with a gorgeous homestead space boasting a wrap-around veranda, French oak, aged zinc, marble and antique brass fixtures and furnishings, and space to host upwards of 200 guests. Greenhouse overlooks the precinct’s olive grove, and features a sumptuous interior aesthetic of Italian marble tiling and custom-tiled artwork, botanical fabric and framed botanical etchings, and one-of-a-kind vintage items sourced from all over the world. The venue opens up to a veranda of its own, complete with an alfresco dining or breakout area with soft pink and green hues to offset the neighbouring cliffs.

If either of these spaces sound perfect for your next event, send an enquiry through to the Howard Smith Wharves team.
