Choppers, chop-shops and coffee at Fortitude Valley’s Smoked Garage
Follow the sounds of revving engines and the scent of coffee down Bridge Street and you’ll encounter one of the Valley’s best-kept secrets. Housed in a beautiful and rustic warehouse, Smoked Garage is home to one of the slickest and most stylish custom motorcycle shops in town. Even if you aren’t a rev-head, Smoked Garage offers some bona fide eye candy in the form of masterfully constructed bikes and stylish industrial architecture.
One part motorcycle showroom, one part workshop, one part hangout space, Smoked Garage is setting a new standard of cool from its new Bridge Street location. Formerly based in Macgregor (and also boasting a location in Bali), Smoked Garage relocated in the latter half of 2016, jumping at the chance to set up a dual gallery and garage in the inner city. Upon arrival, one of the first things you’ll notice about Smoked Garage is the space. The shop occupies the old Fortitude Valley ice factory, which has retained its initial structure over the building’s various iterations. Exposed brick, rustic light fixtures, an exposed ceiling gantry lend an unrefined but effortlessly cool aesthetic, which is further bolstered by the presence of some truly impressive two-wheelers.
As you might have already guessed, Smoked Garage is a dealer of custom motorbikes. The garage designs and builds bespoke motorbikes from established brands like Harley Davidson, Yamaha, Honda, Triumph and more, while also selling all the gear one would need when hitting the road. Curious wanderers can browse the selection of bikes for sale and display only before taking a load off and having a chat with the friendly team. Smoked Garage also shelters Smoked Coffee for those looking to browse the wares with some Baxter & Sons coffee in hand, as well as Tony’s Chopshop Barbershop. The garage also doubles as a function space, and the Smoked Garage team are looking to host events in the coming months.
