Development application lodged for new luxury accommodation spot FV Hotel

A prominent corner in the heart of Fortitude Valley could be home to a new boutique hotel after development plans were recently submitted for approval. FV Hotel is looking to take shape on Ann Street, with plans detailing a 14 storey, high-end active-lifestyle hotel that would revitalise an under-utilised piece of Brisbane’s nightlife district.

Between the emergence of Howard Smith Wharves, the meteoric rise of James Street and the enduring charm of Brunswick Street’s entertainment precinct, it’s no surprise that visitors to Brisbane are choosing to stay close to Fortitude Valley. Accommodation destinations like The Calile, The Fantauzzo, Ovolo The Valley and Hotel X are riding the wave of interest surrounding the city’s nightlife hub, but a potential newcomer might have all of them pipped to the post in the proximity stakes. Property Projects Australia has just submitted a development application for FV Hotel, an exciting entrant that, if approved, would rise 14 storeys above one of The Valley’s most-active nexuses.

In collaboration with architecture firm Buchan, Property Projects Australia has targeted the corner of 621 Ann Street – formerly home to Monastery Nightclub and Oh Hello – for the hotel’s location. FV Hotel’s design follows a subtropical theme, with a natural and minimalist material palette that complements the natural brick facades of the area’s heritage structures (including the neighbouring Stewart & Hemmant building). The hotel will boast ample greenery on the primary frontages, a layout that makes use of natural cross ventilation and a central core configuration that increases natural daylight in each unit and corridor. Current plans list a total of 204 suites, a ground-floor podium restaurant and bar, a rooftop terrace with bar and an infinity pool, external communal areas, and a gym – plus its location will afford guests impressive views of the city skyline, New Farm and the western hinterland. If you’re keen to keep track of this development, you can do so here.
