The Normanby Hotel
The Normanby Hotel has been a community hub ever since its construction in the late 1800s. From a football club clubhouse to one of Brisbane’s most active pubs, The Normanby’s hospitality lineage is certainly one of the most colourful, but a change of ownership and a significant refurbishment in 2019 has returned The Normanby Hotel to its roots. Now owned by Pelathon Management Group, a top-to-bottom revitalisation has brought the venue into the modern age while keeping it faithful to its community-oriented roots. The venue’s bottom floor now boasts an overhauled beer-garden space with one of the largest screens in town, a new VIP gaming lounge and bar, a refined bistro dining space and a sun-dappled cocktail deck. The hotel’s middle floor now boasts a cushy spirits lounge inspired by the hotel’s history as the clubhouse for Normanby Hounds football club, as well as a dedicated craft-beer bar called the Hops Lounge. Alongside the aesthetic overhauls, The Normanby Hotel team has retooled its menu. The fare is still recognisable and approachable, but these pub-style classics have been elevated a few notches, raising the stakes in terms of presentation and flavour. The menu is chock-full of starters, burgers, pizzas, pasta dishes, salads and big plates including chicken schnitzel, porchetta, and beer-battered fish and chips. Steak lovers are still catered for, with carnivore-friendly cuts such as rump, wagyu rib fillets and t-bones available with your choice of sauce. The drinks menu is similarly diverse, with an extensive list of mainstream and craft beers available in bottles or draught, alongside wines off tap and a host of cocktails.
