Ruby the Little Red Ice Cream Van

When we were young there was no sweeter sound than hearing the ice-cream truck making its way down your street. The tinkling of the van’s music as it moved from neighbourhood to neighbourhood was like a siren’s song, and the treats we spent our pocket money on tasted better than anything we’ve had since. Although we are far too old to go chasing ice-cream vans down our street these days, there is one mobile dessert dispensary that is perfectly fine to seek out – Ruby the Little Red Ice Cream Van. This charming wagon specialises in traditional soft-serve ice-creams and specialty treats such as sherbet cones, choc tops, sundaes and more. Owned and operated by Sam and Rosanna, Ruby is an imported ice-cream van built in Southampton in 1973. Ruby the Little Red Ice Cream Van regularly attends food truck events around town, including Food Trucks on the Green, as well as popping up at the City Botanic Gardens throughout the week. If you are craving a nostalgia hit (or just some damn fine soft-serve), track Ruby down ASAP!
