Pawn & Co.

A one-of-a-kind bar took over a beloved site in Fortitude Valley club space in 2024, turning it into a pawn-shop-meets-nightclub hybrid. Pawn & Co., which first opened in Melbourne more than 11 years ago, opened a Brisbane outpost in the old Laruche space, transforming the two-level site into a wonderland of beats, bang-on cocktails and big-ticket auction items. The venue’s interior – constructed by Lowry Group – is a kaleidoscope of colour and detail, with a retro-futurist aesthetic applied across a ground-floor bar and dance area, a cushy in-house perfumery, and upstairs piano bar and a private room. Various display cases are filled with kitschy curiosities, luxury goods and imported one-of-a-kind finds, as well as some elaborate custom fixtures that are almost art pieces. All Pawn & Co stock is affixed with QR codes to give you a history of each object, with new pieces expected to be added regularly. Top-notch DJs propel bodies into motion via a brand-new sound system, while the bar will be dispensing interactive perfume-inspired cocktails.
