Dovetail Social

Adam and Rejoice Thomson’s new cafe Dovetail Social was born from a desire to spread their wings and take their brand of hospitality to a bigger audience. Famed for their specialty coffee offering and range of gluten-free treats, Dovetail Social now presents the opportunity for Rejoice to explore her Filipino heritage for more culinary inspiration. In addition to Rejoice’s famed gluten-free Filipino-inspired baked goods and desserts (think purple-yam doughnuts topped with pavlova), the kitchen is creating a menu filled with international influences – each instilled with a home-cooked feel. As for coffee, local roasting outfit Almanac Coffee will on hand as the house blend, while single origins from other Australian roasters will pop in and out on a rotating basis. Dovetail Social’s Highgate Hill locale features a clean and modern-industrial aesthetic, with several rooms that boast unique purposes. A Merchandise Room will display mementos of Dovetail on Overend’s story, as well as a range of the cafe’s products and goodies from other local producers. A gallery wall will showcase art from Brisbane creatives, and another room will host gluten-free high-tea gatherings complete with an assortment of gluten-free delights, familiar and new.
