Fuel Bakehouse
When Ben Edwards took over Currumbin Creek Bakery he knew he wanted to do things differently from other bakeries on the Gold Coast. Instead of bread, Ben wanted to be known for three things – pies, doughnuts and coffee, and that’s precisely what he’s achieved with Fuel Bakehouse. After undertaking a complete renovation 18 months ago, Fuel has been steadily building a loyal army of followers who congregate here regularly. Forget servo pies filled with meat of questionable quality, Fuel’s pies are baked fresh throughout the day using seven-hour slow cooked beef. In fact, the deep-dish pies are so tasty, the oven is constantly firing to keep up with the strong demand. There is also a succinct but satisfying menu for breakfast and lunch filled with simple yet delicious bites including bacon and egg rolls, pulled pork burritos and burgers. If you fancy a little something sweet, the semi-sourdough doughnuts, which are made in-house, are guaranteed to hit the spot. Available in salted caramel, Nutella or jam, you had better get in quick because these bad boys are known to sell out early. The coffee is by Burleigh Heads’ Social Espresso. If you’re in a hurry, there is a range of freshly made salad rolls in the cabinet that are ready to grab and go.
