Get set – Gold Coast Marathon post-race munchies await at Australia Fair Metro

So you’ve signed up for the Gold Coast Marathon? Good on you! At this point you’ve completed all your training leading up to this weekend and are now tapering off for the big race. But what about after? Many runners know that once you finish a marathon your first thought is to run to the nearest food haunt to fuel up. Luckily, Australia Fair Metro is here to help curb those post-marathon munchies.

Known around the world as one of Australia’s premier sporting events, the Gold Coast Marathon attracts runners near and far to take a 42.195 km course along the Gold Coast’s stunning coastline. This year will see 30,000 participants compete in the event across race weekend on Saturday July 6 and Sunday July 7. With the start and finish lines in Southport, we’ve rounded up a few spots in Australia Fair Metro to refuel after burning all that energy!

Celebrate the end of the race with all your running mates (and cheer squad) at Kubos Bar and Grill. This culinary haven offers a fusion of Filipino and Western cuisine in a fun atmosphere. Enjoy delicious dishes of grilled chicken, beef and crispy pork knuckle, or order a Sinugba Platter for the whole table, featuring grilled pork belly, succulent chicken skewers and deep-fried fish. There’s bound to be something that will suit all tastes. Pair that with a variety of vegetable dishes and you have yourself a finish line feast!

Hydration is key after running a marathon, and CoCo Bubble Tea offers a delightful menu of refreshing bubble teas, milk teas, and fruit juices, perfect for any post-marathon craving. Explore unique flavours and toppings for a customised treat. We suggest a caffeine-free mango yakult – a tropical fruity blend with sweetened probiotic – and let your body recover with every sip.

Famous for its flame-grilled peri–peri chicken, Nando’s offers a vibrant menu to curb post-marathon munchies featuring delicious wraps, salads, and sides. Tuck into a harvest bowl of nutty, grain salad, avocado, kale, baby cos and roasted pumpkin topped with seeds, pickled red onion and herbaceous green goddess dressing. Add your choice of chicken tenders, halloumi or a veggie patty for a protein kick.

For traditional Chinese delights, Yuyin Chinese Cuisine serves up its famed offering of moreish dim sum, spicy stir-fries, and slurpilicious noodles. Rest your tired feet while you enjoy fresh and flavourful ingredients in a welcoming setting. Devour many decadent dishes including crowd-pleasing prawn dumplings, salt and pepper quail, san choi bow and succulent duck spring rolls. Your body will thank you for it.

Cycho’s Buffalo Wings promises a culinary adventure that spans the globe. Indulge in classic buffalo chicken wings, or explore an array of innovative fusion flavours that incorporate Italian, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Filipino influences where each bite is designed to excite your taste buds. Not a fan of wings? Offering a variety of savoury sliders, burgers, bao buns and loaded fries, Cycho’s has something for marathon runners, and all their supportive mates.
