Pavement Whispers: Costa Taco is set to open a third location in a matter of weeks

After sitting empty for nearly half a decade, the yellow building perched on the corner of the Gold Coast Highway and Armrick Avenue in Broadbeach is set to burst back to life as the third location for Costa Taco. Set to open its doors in a matter of weeks, the much-loved taqueria will transform the once-forgotten corner into the city’s newest taco-slinging, margarita-shaking hot spot. Here’s what we know so far …

Since their debut at the Currumbin Community Markets in October 2020, brothers Matt and Nick Stanley have built a loyal following with their take on authentic Mexican cuisine made using locally sourced ingredients. From pop-ups at Dust Temple and Alfred’s Apartment to established ‘fast casual’ taquerias in Palm Beach and Byron Bay, Costa Taco is set to make its biggest mark yet with a brand-new location in Broadbeach, boasting twice the capacity of its predecessors.

“Our Broadbeach restaurant is a pivotal moment for Costa Taco. It’s about expanding our mission to bring a truly authentic Mexican experience to the Gold Coast. We’re creating a space where the energy of Mexico meets Australian beach culture. Guests can expect our commitment to quality and authenticity – from locally-sourced ingredients to traditional recipes. It’s more than just great food; it’s about creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere where people can gather, share stories, and feel the genuine spirit of Mexican hospitality,” co-founder Nick Stanley says.

Diners can expect authentic Mexican street-style tacos like sinaloa chicken, beef birria and Baja-style crispy fish, alongside popular dishes like ceviche tostadas and street corn. For those who know and love Costa, it’s likely you’re already well familiar with their quesabirria tacos – a delicious blend of queso (cheese) and birria – which will also make an appearance on the succinct menu.  Best served with a margarita made with freshly squeezed limes and top-tier Mexican tequila.

Costa Taco Broadbeach is aiming to open late August. As always, we’ll bring you a closer look when it does.
