Rumi

If you’ve never experienced traditional Persian cuisine, book a table at Rumi and prepare your senses for a culinary adventure. Satiate your hankering for hummus (not the supermarket kind) and rip apart some freshly baked bread before plunging it into a bowl of Mirza Ghasemi (charcoal-smoked eggplant with egg, tomato and garlic) and munching on a Persian-style kebab with a side of saffron rice. The deliciously authentic Persian restaurant recently relocated from its long-time home on the Gold Coast Highway to a sophisticated new space on Surf Parade complete with an impressive new selection of sips. Alongside the usual suspects (margarita, espresso martini, mojito, to name a few) Rumi’s signature cocktail list offers some more unusual (and delicious) libations such as Cyrus’ Victory (Persian whisky, bitters, lemon and sugar), Shahname (Persian rum, Persian coconut, Midori and pineapple) and the delightfully refreshing 1001 Night (Persian Arak Saggi, mint, pomegranate, cucumber and orange).
