Weekly public radio show This American Life has been enthralling listeners since Ira Glass first put it on the air back in 1995, and now the executive producer and his team have launched an equally captivating spin-off, Serial. The free podcast delves into one true story each season, staying with it week after week until the plot and characters have fully revealed themselves. There’s no premeditated plotline; the story simply unfolds on its own, encouraging listeners to stay tuned to the end.

While the first season of Serial was predominantly funded by This American Life, in order for the program to continue it needed to be able to fund itself. So host Sarah Koenig and the team implored listeners to chip in, happily announcing last week that between donations and sponsorship, season two of Serial will now be able to go ahead.
