Melbourne-based fashion label Bared Footwear has arrived in the James Street precinct

This may be a dramatic statement to make but we consider shoe shopping to be one of the funnest pasttimes going. Sliding in to sandals, hot-footing around the store in heels and trying sneakers on for size like we’re Cinderella fitting in to the glass sipper is our idea of a fun time. If you’re also partial to a spot of shoe shopping, then let us introduce you to Bared Footwear, the newest addition to the James Street precinct.

Looking for some new loafers? On the hunt for some hot boots? Perhaps you’re desperately seeking stilettos? Whatever footwear you’re wanting to find, you’re sure to discover your dream shoe at the newly open Bared Footwear. The Melbourne-based fashion label, which was founded by podiatrist Anna Baird in 2008, has opened its first Queensland flagship store on Wandoo Street in Fortitude Valley. The shoe haven is brimming with a range of extensive range of crazy-comfy men’s and women’s shoes that are all made with Bared’s unique biomechanical footbed. This unique feature provides support through cushioned comfort and reduces pressure on the heel – because, let’s be real, after 2020, wearing heels is way tougher than it used to be.

The brand isn’t just good for your trotters, it’s good for the environment too! In 2021, Bared Footwear became Australia’s first B-Corp-certified footwear label, meaning the business stands by the highest social and environmental standards for people and the planet. The brand is devoted to reducing its global footprint, and giving back to those less fortunate and has done so by raising money for the likes of The Hunger Project, Children’s Ground and the Australian bushfire relief. Comfy and charitable? Well, if the shoe fits.

You can find Bared Footwear at 7 Wandoo Street in Fortitude Valley.
