A Japanese souffle pancake pop-up is landing in Brisbane this week

If you’ve woken up this morning struggling to get out of bed and dreading the week ahead (we’re talking real Garfield Monday energy), we’ve got some flipping fantastic news that will put a pep in your step. Pop-up Japanese eatery Kumo Kumo is bringing its super-fluffy souffle pancakes to Brisbane this week. It’s the stuff dessert lovers dream about! Here’s what you can expect …

While some people may dream of stacks of money to make their life infinitely better, we dream of stacks of pancakes. Thick and fluffy souffle pancakes, to be specific. In absolutely stunning news for our river city, we’re getting treated to just that thanks to Kumo Kumo, which will be bringing its jiggly Japanese street-style pancakes and speciality drinks to South Bank from Wednesday November 23 to Sunday January 29. There are several flavours to tuck in to including Sunny Honey (whipped butter and Jarah honey), Uji Matcha (uji matcha cream and red-bean paste), Black Sugar Boba (cream, black sugar and boba pearls), and Creme Brulee (custard, cassonade sugar and berry compote). Perhaps the most exciting flavour of them all is the Biscoffee, a creative concoction melding Biscoff and coffee cream with whipped mascarpone.

On top of the decadent cake-like delights, the eatery will also be serving up a selection of lip-smacking drinks like boba tea, iced tea and hot tea. There’s no need to book in advance, as the pancake-slinging pop-up will offer walk-in tables and takeaway options – just make sure you gobble up the pancakes within 15 minutes to gain maximum eating pleasure. Kumo Kumo Brisbane will be open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30–9:30 pm, Fridays 12:00–10:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. You’ll find the pop-up at 182 Grey Street, South Bank. Run, don’t walk pancake fiends!
