Classy casks – Gonzo Vino unveils a sustainable and sophisticated collection of boxed wines
Let’s be honest, when most of us think about wine in a box we picture a silver sack that is most likely strung from a Hills Hoist in someone’s backyard. While you may have graduated from goon, Melbourne-based winery Gonzo Vino is on a mission to bring it back, reshaping perceptions on cask wine and leading the sustainability charge in an industry dominated by glass bottles.
Straying away from traditional wine practices, Gonzo Vino is at the forefront of the green revolution in the wine industry. Its vibrant new collection of bag-in-a-box wines are elegantly packaged, sustainably produced and designed for the modern grape lover. The innovative and playful collection of Mediterranean-style goon fuses great taste with eco-conscious packaging and increased drinkability, ensuring your vino stays fresh for six to eight weeks after being opened. By opting for a sack of Gonzo Vino over your usual glass-bottled drop, you’re significantly reducing your carbon footprint, promoting recyclability, embracing sustainable growing practices and enjoying your wine for way longer – what’s not to love!
Gonzo Vino’s latest release of fun and frisky boxed wines features a sumptuous skin-contact Vermentino (Get a Grip), a big and bold Cabernet Sauvignon (Boomer Juice), and a super seductive chilled red (Splishy Splashy). After soaking the grapes with skins for around eight days, Get a Grip is pressed into the tank and left to finish its fermentation naturally. You can expect a tonne of peachy stone fruit goodness and citrusy freshness that we all love from a Vermentino. Boomer Juice is for the big red lovers. Made from well-farmed vineyards, picked as early as possible and macerated for half the recommended time, this full-flavoured drop is packed with red currents and lavender, and finished with a tart acidity. Back due to high demand, Splishy Splashy 2.0 is Gonzo Vino’s most popular chilled red and is a much-needed addition to your fridge, or pantry. Using the Portuguese grape Tinta Barocca, this wine produces notes of blackberry, cocoa and dark plum, and can be enjoyed chilled or at room temp – the choice is yours.
There are so many more funky flavours to discover. Head to Gonzo Vino’s website for more information and to check out the entire collection.
