First Coat Street Art & Music Festival takes over Toowoomba

Returning to the streets of Toowoomba for its second year, First Coat is a citywide celebration of street art that will transform Toowoomba’s buildings into canvases.

From May 16 to 18, dozens of local and international artists will make their way to Toowoomba for one of the more cutting-edge arts festivals in Queensland. First Coat is a street art and music festival that will transform the city with large-scale murals, painted by the assembled artists. The artist line-up includes a who’s who of Australian and international street artists including Askew, Madsteez, Alice Weinthal, Frank & Mimi, Joel Birch, Does and Cinzah Seekayem.

In addition to the art on display, First Coat will also feature a live music program headlined by Regurgitator, L-Fresh the Lion and Desmond Cheese, plus aerosol art workshops, mural tours, panel discussions, laneway markets and design seminars. The official launch party will be taking place on Saturday May 16 at the Mort Estate Hotel. Tickets are still available but rest assured there will also be plenty of free activities taking place all weekend.
