Cine-Retro Film Night

Revisit film noir at a Cine-Retro double bill

Settle in to the aptly romantic setting of The Old Museum for an evening of old-world charm at The Cine-Retro Film Society’s double-billed evening of nostalgia and glamour on Saturday July 20. With the aim of fostering an appreciation of characteristic filmmaking from the 1920s to the 1950s, the Cine-Retro Film Society will be projecting Anthony Mann’s Desperate (1947) from 6:45 pm, a film noir classic illustrating the contrasts between the wholesome and the sordid, followed by Alfred Hitchcock’s Suspicion (1941), in which a young women marries a charming man, played by Cary Grant, only to suspect the worst of him and fear for her life. The society’s film evenings include informative introductions by resident film buffs and a supper during the interval, served on china crockery.
