Alexander McCall Smith brings his newest novel A Song of Comfortable Chairs to Brisbane Powerhouse

After contributing more than one hundred titles since the start of his writing career in the 1980s, internationally acclaimed author Alexander McCall Smith is adding another to his portfolio and is bringing it to the Powerhouse Theatre for one very special night.

Join Alexander McCall Smith on Sunday March 12 as he delves deep into his latest novel in the widely popular series The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective AgencyA Song of Comfortable Chairs, which follows the journey of protagonist Mma Ramotswe as she solves crime with her usual grace, generosity and kindness. In the age of internet sleuths and true-crime enthusiasts, a lesson can certainly be learnt from Botswana’s premier lady detective and her sidekick Grace Makutsi as they navigate their way through cases with wisdom, good humour and the occasional cup of tea. The award-winning UK author will be diving into the book in front of a live audience, with no doubt many tales to tell about his prolific career and adored fictional detective agency.

A former professor of medical law, Alexander turned his hand to fiction writing in the early 80s with his first book The White Hippo – a much-loved children’s book. But it wasn’t until the publication of the award-winning series The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency in 1998, that Alexander became a household name. This series has now sold more than 20 million copies in the English language alone and has been translated into 46 languages.

So put the kettle on, sink into your comfiest chair and head on over to the Brisbane Powerhouse website to secure your spot to an unforgettable night with the ever insightful Alexander McCall Smith.
