An Affordable Art Fair is heading to Brisbane where you can nab an original piece for as little as $100

Art lovers, rejoice! A four-day art festival showcasing original works from more than 40 independent galleries will take over Brisbane Showgrounds from May 9–12, 2024, giving money-conscious aesthetes the chance to nab an original artwork, priced anywhere between $100 to $10,000. Now in its 25th year, global accessible art phenomenon Affordable Art Fair has welcomed more than 3.1 million art enthusiasts and sold a whopping 568,000 works from emerging and established artists since its inaugural fair in 1999. Born out of a growing demand for quality, affordable and contemporary art, the Affordable Art Fair now runs in 16 cities worldwide, with Brisbane, Berlin and Austin joining the ranks in 2024. Australian fair director Stephanie Kelly says this fair will be the single largest gathering of galleries and artists in one location. “Affordable Art Fair focuses on the fun side of viewing and buying art, and seeks to put art into every home, no matter the size or buyer’s budget,” says Stephanie. “The mission of the fair is to democratise and demystify the art world and make art accessible to all. Unlike traditional art fairs, every exhibited work is from a living artist, every artwork on display lists a sale price and every artwork is looking for a new home.”

The curated collection of more than 40 participating galleries will span all styles and genres, delivering a spectacular smorgasbord of paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, limited-edition prints and more. This encyclopaedic line-up of works come from a range of galleries from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region including Studio Gallery (Fortitude Valley, Sydney, Melbourne), Revival Art & Design (Albion), The Toowoomba Gallery, Wentworth Galleries, MG and Co (Sydney) and JUMBLED (Orange), just to name a few. In addition to browsing the thousands of original artworks, fine art-loving folk will have the opportunity to enjoy live artist demonstrations, talks and tours, kids activities, hands-on workshops, live music and a sumptuous selection of tasty treats and tipples.

The Affordable Art Fair will take place from Thursday May 9 until Sunday May 12 at the Brisbane Showgrounds Exhibition Building. For more information and to register for updates, head on over to the Affordable Art Fair website.
