Queensland firm shortlisted for IDEA Designer of the Year

Brisbane-based interior design firm Wrightson Stewart has been nominated for Designer of the Year in the Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) for 2013, marking the first time a Queensland firm has been nominated for this category.

Focusing on both residential and commercial interior design, Wrightson Stewart also sees its Teneriffe Warehouse Apartment shortlisted for the Single Residential category, its own Fortitude Valley studio in the ‘Workplace under 1000 sqm’ category, and its work on the La Boite Theatre Pop-up Bar during Holding the Man in the Event category. Both the studio fitout and apartment design demonstrate Ian Wrightson and Steven Stewart’s talent for preserving original architectural elements, while modernising with rich, layered materials and detailed finishes.

Other firms in the running for the prestigious title of IDEA Designer on the Year include BURNS (Sydney), Elenberg Fraser (Melbourne), Tobias Partners (Sydney) and Tribe Studio (Sydney), with the final decision resting with a jury that brings together architects and interior designers from around the country, including Arkhefield’s Angela Layton from Brisbane. The winners will be announced at the annual Gala Party this Friday November 15 at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.
