Watch the silver screen under the stars at the Moonlight Cinema

Taking advantage of the vibrant Brisbane summer, the annual Moonlight Cinema has been set up once again in New Farm Park, screening new flicks until Sunday March 6.

The traditional cinema experience has gradually been usurped by a plethora of boutique theatre experiences – Gold Class and 3D films are offering greater levels of comfort and interactivity but the immensely popular outdoor cinema is outstripping them all. Reminiscent of the old-school drive-in movie experience, outdoor cinemas allow patrons to enjoy the latest blockbusters in the crisp night air. Taking full advantage of the summer weather is the annual Moonlight Cinema, which screens advance showings, new releases and cult classics on the side of the Brisbane Powerhouse from December to March.

Moonlight Cinema will be showing some highly anticipated films including the latest in the James Bond saga Spectre, hilarious comedies Daddy’s Home and Dirty Grandpa, the hugely successful sci-fi epic Star Wars: The Force Awakens as well as classics such as Top Gun, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Dirty Dancing. Moonlight Cinema patrons will be able to enjoy top-notch nosh courtesy of an LA-style food truck, candy bar and licensed bar. Dog owners can also bring their pooch along to Moonlight Cinema screenings (as long as they are kept on a leash). So get some beach chairs, cushions, rugs and blankets (or hire a bean bed for extra comfort) and pick a session to attend this season.
