TWE Alchemy Cordial Company

Alchemy Cordial Company makes fine refreshments

While most children of the 1990s grew up gulping back glasses of sugar-loaded cordials after school, Michael Bishop had a plan to turn traditional cordial on its head. In 1997, he founded Alchemy Cordial Company, which started as a humble market stall selling homemade cordials and has since grown to become a renowned manufacturer and marketer of naturally flavoured beverages.

Located in Cleveland, the family-run business now crafts all manner of cordials, syrups and mixes that make swizzling together a cool soda in summer or a toasty hot chocolate in winter all the more decadent. Best known for its natural chai elixir, Alchemy Cordial Company draws focus to natural flavour, with the chai syrup melding organic tea, spices, cane sugar and purified water to form the elixir. The brand’s classic cordials come in tempting flavours like rose and lime, lemon and chilli, and pineapple and coconut – perfect for making pina coladas on Sunday afternoons. Alchemy also offers up a range of coffee syrups to add to your morning cup or alternatively drizzle over pancakes, ice-cream or waffles – think flavours like butterscotch, caramel, hazelnut and macadamia vanilla – with a special range also dedicated to dressing up hot chocolates.

All of the brand’s products are gluten free, with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and just like all good wineries, the Alchemy showroom in Cleveland offers free samples and cellar door sales. Alternatively, you can find Alchemy’s cordials being used in cafes and restaurants around town, as well as on the shelf of selected grocers for you to whip up a refreshing glass at your leisure. Alchemy Cordial Company will also be appearing at South Bank’s Regional Flavours during July 19–20, so you can meet the makers and have a chat in person.
