Join QPAC’s 30th Anniversary Public Celebration Day

On the day before the 30-year anniversary of QPAC’s official opening, the centre is inviting the good folk of Brisbane to join in the celebrations.

It’s QPAC’s birthday and it’ll invite who it wants to. Come one, come all, this Sunday April 19 as one of our major cultural institutions celebrates 30 wonderful years of existence. From 1:00–7:30 pm, QPAC will be throwing a public party to honour the wonderful performers, people and productions that have contributed to the venue’s success since it first opened the curtains on April 20, 1985.

Celebration events will be kicking off throughout the afternoon across QPAC’s front yard, Cascade Court and Melbourne Street Green. Check out live entertainment from Chukale, The Sugar Shakers, Brisbane Bells and more, performances from Nunukul Yuggera and Wagga Dance Group, kids’ programs from Imaginary Theatre and plenty more hands-on activities, with emcee duties performed by local theatre personality Ian Brown. Take a backstage tour with lighting designer David Walters and former theatre project manager and QPAC employee Iain Audsley, and don’t miss street artist Gus Eagleton’s large-scale installation piece inspired by the QPAC building. The Public Celebration Day is free to attend, but backstage tours must be booked on the day.
