The Ship Inn

One of Brisbane’s oldest pubs started life as a rowdy drinking den, but these days you’re more likely to find top-notch gastropub fare and phenomenal tipples at the The Ship Inn. This gorgeous building sits at the southernmost end of South Bank’s parkland precinct, boasting a heritage facade and three distinct dining areas. While the menu is best described as pub-style morsels, the kitchen team’s attention to produce sets The Ship Inn’s fare a notch above competitors. Following a new new paddock-to-plate initiative, The Ship Inn boasts a daily menu of rotating, ethically sourced eats, many of which using protein sourced from free-range producers Barcoo Beef, Gooralie Free Range Pork and The Ship Inn’s own Friday Hut Farm. Alongside these Friday Hut specials, the menu features classic mainstays including steak-and-Guinness pie, lamb shanks, stuffed pork cutlets, house-smoked beef brisket, prawn and pancetta linguine, and chicken poke bowls. Pair that with a great cross-section of beers, wines and spirits, and it’s easy to see how The Ship Inn has stood the test of time.
