Taro’s Ramen
If, like us, you can’t get enough of Taro’s Ramen, you were probably pretty stoked when the noodle soup empire opened a new location south of the river towards the end of 2017. Taro Akimoto brought his ramen concept to Melbourne Street, taking up residence in the space formerly occupied by Soccarat Paella Bar. There’s plenty of room to move and iPads at each table to make ordering simple. Much like his Ascot, 480 Queen and Edward Street locations, Taro’s Ramen South Brisbane boasts a simple but delicious menu, built around his famous Bangalow pork-based broth. Get ready to slurp up the likes of the ever-popular tonkotsu ramen alongside tsukemen, shio, shoyu and miso varieties – there’s no wrong choice here. Non-ramen dishes extend to chicken karaage curries, potato croquettes, gyoza, pork kimchi rice and more, while patrons can sip on Japanese beers, wines, sake and shochu.
