Shucks Bar in Manly is heaven for any passing fan of oysters. Specialising in freshly shucked (that’s right, they shuck on site) served naturally and in a range of cooked varieties, Shucks Bar is a dream dining destination for pescatarians. At any given time the menu could feature three to four types of natural oysters from different regions – including Moreton Bay, Coffin Bay, Bruny Island and St Helens – available by the half-dozen or full dozen. Complementing the oyster range is a selection of sharable plates for help you get your banquet on, including oyster tacos with fennel slow and chipotle crema, miso-glazed octopus on grilled eggplant, beetroot-cured salmon wrapped around honeydew and crème brulee cornbread. Shucks Bar also pours a concise range of wines, with a strict focus on showcasing drops from family-owned, small batch wineries that operate on a minimal intervention process. A select range of craft beers from the likes of Slipstream Brewing and Red Bay Brewery are also available, as is a cider from Willie Smith. Also of note, Shucks Bar aims to be as sustainable as possible, recycling oyster shells back to organisations that are looking to replenish oyster number and water clarity in the Pumicestone Passage.
