Ngon
Food is at its best when it is made with love, and Paddington’s Ngon prides itself on serving food that comes from the heart. Located in the heart of Paddington in a spacious tenancy on Given Terrace, the family-run business is known for its phenomenal Vietnamese cuisine, bringing to life recipes that have been handed down over generations. The local institution relocated here in 2021, expanding its seating capacity to 100 patrons across indoor and outdoor dining spaces. The menu starts with a huge range of vegan and vegetarian-friendly dishes, including Vietnamese crepes, eggplant and purple-yam soup, vegan pork belly served in a rice hammock, and Vietnamese gnocchi served with vegan pork rib and yellow curry sauce. The rest of the menu is loaded with sensational signatures, beginning with small bites like Vietnamese corn ribs, duck spring rolls, young-rice-coated prawns and satay-grilled squid before moving into large-format plates including steaming bowls of Ngon’s signature beef noodle soup, twice-cooked roasted duck and Moreton Bay bugs battered in herb butter and served with black bean sauce. Soon Ngon will launch a breakfast menu, featuring out-of-the-box options like breakfast pho, bacon-and-egg banh mi and savoury pork balls to go along with cups of Industry Beans coffee.
