Since the Gelato Messina opened in Coolangatta in 2016 (and was voted Best Place for Dessert in our Gold Coast EAT/drink Awards that same year), we have been eagerly waiting for it to bring its creative gelato flavours a little further north. Our fervent prayers were answered when Gelato Messina brought its operation to Brisbane – opening the largest Gelato Messina in the country in late March 2017 at Aria Property Group’s The Melbourne Residences in South Brisbane. The space boasts a cabinet that fits 40 flavours of delectable gelato and sorbet – that’s 35 of the brand’s iconic flavours and five varieties that rotate weekly. If you play your cards right, you can avoid repeating flavours almost entirely. If that’s not enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, Gelato Messina also serves milkshakes and thickshakes, as well as a host of specialty gelato cakes that will make you the life of the dinner party when you plonk it on the table. Gelato Messina will also be bringing its hands-on and gelato appreciation classes to its new home in June.
