FudoDori

Brisbane City’s Elizabeth Arcade underwent a complete transformation in 2019, shifting and morphing into FudoDori. Translating from Japanese to ‘food street’, FudoDori is just that – the is lined from Elizabeth to Charlotte street with a veritable smorgasbord of food outlets. The team behind the dining destination want FudoDori to be a social experience just as much as it is about the food, believing that food is only as good as the people around you. The concept allows diners to engage in a roaming dining experience, working their way through the arcade to sample different dishes along the way. The style of food will progress through FudoDori – the Elizabeth Street side will cater more to daytime eating with cafes and grab-and-go bites, with the offerings becoming increasingly suited to evening until reaching Charlotte Street, which will be dedicated to late-night ramen bars and sake-fuelled izakayas. Kyoto-style modern Japanese cafe Koto Sanpo (which recently opened on the Gold Coast) leads the FudoDori offering, opening its expansive flagship store on Elizabeth Street in late May. Other eateries include LUCHA Kitchen + Bar, Hoto Dogu and Amai Kawaii, with forthcoming hotspots offering the likes of godzilla (jumbo) gyoza, Chinese hot spots, spicy Thai cuisine, yakiniku barbecue and more.
