CLOSED – Mavis’s Kitchen & Cabins

Nestled at the base of the majestic Mount Warning, this 25-acre former dairy farm is home to a relaxed country-style restaurant, a rich organic kitchen garden and eco-friendly B&B cabin accommodation. Surrounded by World Heritage rainforest and the fertile farmland of the lush Tweed Valley, it’s no wonder the focus here is all about sustainability. The menu at Mavis’s changes with the seasons and is designed to showcase local farmers and artisans. For winter, it’s all about cockle-warming dishes such as homemade croquetas, slow cooked lamb shank with paprika mash and beetroot gnocchi with toasted almonds, basil, parmesan and truffled pear puree. Tip, for incredible value, opt for the three-course feast which includes any entree, main and dessert for $59.50 or pair it with matching wines for $89.50. Speaking of drinkables, Mavis’s Kitchen offers a expertly curated selection of swill including boutique beers and organic wines from Australia and abroad. If picnics are more your vibe, grab one of Mavis’s specialty hampers and head out to find the perfect spot to while away an afternoon with a selection of gourmet goodies including Nimbin Valley Dairy cheeses,  local olives and salami and a fresh baguette. We don’t know about you but that sounds like a pretty great way to spend a day.
